News Desk: On the 76th anniversary of India’s Independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag at the historic Red Fort in Delhi earlier this morning. Notably, the Prime Minister delivered an extensive 90-minute speech, his second-longest address since taking office in 2014.
During his speech, the Prime Minister addressed a multitude of topics pertinent to the current state of the nation. Initially, he offered homage to all those who contributed to the nation’s advancement and actively participated in the freedom struggle. He then turned his attention to the situation in Manipur, asserting that peace is the ultimate solution to the prevailing issues. Progressing further, the Prime Minister shed light on the series of natural calamities that struck various parts of the country over the past year.
Continuing his discourse, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s involvement in global politics, specifically mentioning the nation’s participation in various events at the G20 summit. In this context, he underscored the G20 summit in Bali, where he felt the profound interest of leaders from diverse countries in India’s advancements, particularly in the field of technology and digitalization.
Subsequently, PM Modi expressed gratitude to the citizens for bestowing their trust in the government and supporting its endeavors over the years. He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to the nation’s development. Addressing the impact of COVID-19, the Prime Minister noted the emergence of a new geopolitical paradigm within the country. He highlighted the global recognition of holistic healthcare, encompassing practices such as Yoga and Ayush. Moving on to technological advancements, PM Modi underscored India’s burgeoning capabilities in fields like space technology, deep-sea exploration, and modernizing the railway infrastructure. In terms of economic progress, he recalled that India stood at the 10th position when he assumed office in 2014. However, through the persistent efforts of the nation’s 1.4 billion citizens, India has now ascended to the fifth position.
On an international note, PM Modi proclaimed India’s emergence as a “Vishwa Mitra” – a global friend. He further stressed the pivotal role of “women-led development,” highlighting the contributions of women across various sectors. Additionally, the Prime Minister addressed the issue of dynastic politics before concluding by extending Independence Day greetings to Indians worldwide, accompanied by chants of “Jai Hind” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai”.
