Siliguri, 07th December: A cargo pickup van overturned near Loknath Bazar on the Eastern Bypass in Siliguri after the driver lost control, police said. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.
According to sources, the driver lost control of the van while trying to avoid a oncoming auto-rickshaw, causing the vehicle to overturn.
Police from Ashighar Outpost and the Ashighar Sub-Traffic Guard quickly reached the scene. The van was later recovered with the help of a crane.
Local residents allege that accidents frequently occur on the Eastern Bypass. They added that despite police action after incidents, the situation often reoccurs. Poor street lighting has also been cited as a reason for accidents on the road.
