Phansidewa police rescued 27 cattle, six arrested

Phansidewa, 04th March: Phansidewa police rescued 27 cattle based on a tip-off. Six people were arrested in the incident. The arrested accused have been identified as Gurmeet Singh (55), Deepak Kumar (40), Sandeep Singh (36), Arun Kumar (38), Gurseuk Singh (24), and Abstar Singh (28). All are residents of Punjab.


It has been learned that the arrested individuals were planning to smuggle cattle from Bihar to Assam. Police detained 3 trucks on Ghoshpukur-Fulbari bypass road after receiving a tip-off. 27 cattle were rescued from those trucks. The truck drivers could not show any valid documents of the cattle. The stickers of the Assam government were also affixed to the seized vehicles. Following this, 6 people were arrested.


They were sent to Siliguri sub-divisional court on Friday.
