Petrol prices can be as low as Rs 15 per litre: Nitin Gadkari

On Tuesday, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari shared a plan under which the prices of Petrol could be brought down to rupees 15 per liter.


According to reports, while addressing a gathering at Pratapgarh in Rajasthan, the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stated that a blend of 60 percent ethanol and 40 percent electricity could reduce petrol prices significantly. In anticipation, the Minister added that in the month of August, he would be launching a version of Toyota Innova, a fully flex fuel engine that would run on 100 percent ethanol.

Ethanol is produced from molasses, a secondary product of sugarcane. Using ethanol as a fuel would also benefit the farmers and boost sugarcane farming in the country.
