Siliguri, 06th November: Long queues were seen standing for over two hours to get a hold of potatoes being sold at the rate of Rs 25 per kg.
In view of the skyrocketing prices of potatoes (which are currently being sold at Rs 45-55 per kg) and onions, the common people are facing a tough time managing their expenses.
To tackle such a situation, Sufal Bangla stalls have been set up in different places across the state where potatoes are sold at government fixed price. For the past one month, Sufal Bangla mobile vans have been selling potatoes by touring different parts of the city.
On Friday, Jyoti potatoes were sold at Rs 25 per kg at a Sufal Bangla stall in Siliguri’s College Para. Coupons were distributed on behalf of the Agricultural Marketing Department. A maximum of 3 kg of potatoes was provided per coupon. Long queues were spotted today in this regard.
