Rajganj, 04th March: The people in Pather Sathi in Fulbari are facing pure drinking water problems.
“Pather Sathi” was constructed for the convenience of the people at the Fulbari bypass near Siliguri, in 2017, where facilities like hotel and lodge are available. The women of a local NGO have been entrusted with the Pather Sathi’s responsibility. However, no pure drinking water facility is available in the Pather Sathi. The members of the NGO stated that the water is unusable due to the high amount of iron contained in it.
The number of people visiting “Pather Sathi” has reduced considerably due to the unavailability of pure drinking water, due to which, the caretakers are facing losses. The caretakers stated that despite informing the Gram Panchayat management, in this regard, no action has been taken.
Meanwhile, the Gram Panchayat Pradhan Dilip Roy stated drinking water problems are being faced in the areas under Fulbari-1 and 2 Gram Panchayat. Roy further stated that although the water from the Public Health Engineering Department (PHE) is available in Fulbari and Siliguri, the areas under Fulbari-1 and 2 Gram Panchayat are still deprived of pure drinking water facilities. The situation has been informed to the Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA) as well as the State Tourism Minister Goutam Deb.
