Bagdogra, 22nd December: A single ammunition of a country-made pistol was recovered from the luggage of an airline passenger at Bagdogra Airport on Monday, causing a stir at the airport.
CISF personnel detected the ammunition during a routine baggage scan of Mohammad Zahir, who was scheduled to fly to Delhi on SpiceJet flight SG 2241.
Following the discovery, the CISF immediately informed Bagdogra Airport Police Station. Police personnel arrived and arrested the passenger, who was later produced before the Siliguri court.
Police sources stated that the accused will be taken on remand for further interrogation to determine how he came into possession of the ammunition of the country-made pistol and to investigate any possible links to illegal arms activities. Further investigation is ongoing.
