Siliguri, 16th September: The Pashchim Banga Basti Unnayan Samiti staged demonstrations on Wednesday outside Siliguri Municipal Corporation in support of multiple demands including widow allowance, old age allowance, and lease. A memorandum was also handed over to SMC Board of Administrators Chairman Ashok Bhattacharya in this regard.
Organization President Dilip Singh stated that they are carrying out campaigns keeping in mind the condition of the poor people. He accused SMC of not providing allowances to the needy for the last few months. As a result, several people from different wards are facing extreme difficulties. He demanded immediate payment of their allowance.
On the other hand, Ashok Bhattacharya stated that SMC will soon initiate the process to provide allowances and food grains.
