Parents block highway in Phansidewa over severe shortage of teachers in government school

Phansidewa, 01st August: On Thursday, student’s parents staged a protest and road blockade at the state highway, demanding more teachers for the Phansidewa Government Model School.

Parents complained that despite the school’s designation as a ‘model school,’ it has been operating with only one permanent teacher. Until the previous day, there were about three guest teachers assisting. However, at the moment the school is undergoing a severe staffing shortage with only one teacher for the students. Additionally, students have reported that classes are often not conducted properly due to the shortage of teachers. This has led to concerns about the preparations for the upcoming secondary exams.

The matter has been informed to the Sub-Divisional Officer. The head teacher has also expressed the need for a swift resolution. Meanwhile, following the blockade, officers from the Ghoshpukur Outpost arrived at the scene and the parents lifted the blockade after police assurances. Additionally, Phansidewa BDO Biplab Biswas assured prompt action to provide the necessary teaching staff and other services at the earliest.
