Siliguri, 28th July: After a parcel suddenly exploded today at the Pradhan Nagar Post Office near the Siliguri Champasari area, the Pradhan Nagar Police launched investigations and detained a person in connection to the incident.
According to police sources, some explosives including gunpowder were found inside the parcel. The Pradhan Nagar police detained a man based on a complaint lodged by the post office authorities.
In this context, Post Master Archana Dey stated that the parcel which had arrived from Amritsar exploded out of nowhere. Luckily non of the postal staff were injured. The CID Bomb Squad team and Detective department reached the spot shortly after and launched investigations.
However, the post office officials have raised questions regarding how the explosives managed to be posted from Amritsar to Siliguri.
