Siliguri, 01st December: The Panitanki Traffic Guard carried out a special drive on Siliguri’s Hill Cart Road to remove encroachments from footpaths and government-designated parking spaces.
Several shops had allegedly placed unauthorised ‘No Parking’ boards in the government parking zones, disrupting the parking facility meant for the public. During the drive, traffic police gave these shop owners a one-day deadline to prove the legality of these boards by submitting Siliguri Municipal Corporation documents, failing which the boards would be removed.
Police also cleared multiple shops encroaching on footpaths and seized goods kept on the pavements. Officials said similar drives will continue to ensure smooth pedestrian movement and normal traffic flow.
