Siliguri, 20th July: The Panitanki outpost police detained a person allegedly involved in selling fake number plates at a shop in Siliguri. In a raid conducted on Tuesday evening, the Police recovered fake number plates and stickers.
According to sources, the officials of the transport department seized a pickup van in Matigara which had a fake number plate affixed on it. After questioning the driver, they found out that he had got the number plate from a shop in Sevoke Road. The matter was immediately reported to the Panitanki outpost police on behalf of the transport department.
Following which, the Police raided the shop on Tuesday evening and recovered stickers and fake number plates. The shop owner has been detained in the incident.
