Kharibari, 02nd May: The Panighatta Tea Estate, which had been closed for 10 years, has officially reopened, bringing joy to the workers. The estate was shut down in 2015 due to dissatisfaction between the workers and the owner, leaving many employees unemployed.
The decision to reopen the estate was made following a tripartite meeting held on April 29 at the Siliguri Labor Department. The estate owner mentioned that it will take time for operations to return to full capacity, but expressed confidence that with the cooperation of the workers, the tea estate would soon regain its former rhythm.
Tea workers have expressed their happiness about the reopening, noting the difficulties faced during the closure. They hope the estate will continue its operations smoothly moving forward.
