Jalpaiguri, 23rd November: Residents of Vivekananda Pally in Jalpaiguri adjacent to the Teesta Rail Bridge are panic-driven as a herd of wild elephants is stranded in the center of the Teesta River. The incident led to a widespread commotion in the area as the locals were terrified of the elephants approaching the residential area.
According to reports, the locals witnessed a group of nine or ten elephants near the Teesta Rail Bridge earlier on Thursday. Locals anticipate that the elephants arrived from the Baikunthapur forest to consume crops. Meanwhile, a sizable crowd had gathered to observe the elephants in the area.
Conversely, the news reached the forest department and a team of officials arrived at the location. In this regard, Mrinal Kanti Sarkar, an official from the forest department, stated that the elephants will not leave this area throughout the day and will be sent back to the Baikunthapur forest later in the evening.
