Optopic holds meeting to protect Yellow-Breasted Bunting Birds

Siliguri, 22nd December: After relentlessly working towards decreasing the pollution levels in Fulbari area, the Siliguri’s voluntary organization Optopic has now set its goal to protect the yellow-breasted bunting birds.


In order to raise awareness in this regard, Optopic organized a meeting on Tuesday along with Fulbari’s administrative officials under the initiative of organization head Deepjyoti Chakraborty. Police officials, forest department, irrigation department, local public leaders, and many others were present during the meeting.

Reportedly, the yellow-breasted bunting birds are currently on the verge of extinction. This species of bird has also been seen in Kawakhali adjacent to Siliguri. Since then, Optopic is working to protect its existence in the world.


Deepjyoti Chakraborty, the organization president, said that these birds come in search of food in the bushes of agricultural lands and are often killed by the people. Hence, an awareness should be created among the common people.
