Opposition parties are politicizing the Hathras gang-rape incident: Debasree Chaudhuri

Siliguri, 04th October: During a press conference at the BJP party office in Siliguri, the Union Minister for Women and Child Department Debasree Chaudhuri stated that the opposition parties are politicizing the Hathiras gang-rape incident.

In this context, she said that the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at first directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident and then handed over the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for an impartial inquiry. Even then, the opposition parties are trying to heat up the situation by politicizing the incident.

She further alleged that if a girl from a Dalit family is a rape victim, our State Chief Minister never takes to the streets. However, if such crimes are reported from a BJP-ruled state, she immediately takes to the streets to be in the headlines.

On the other hand, she also slammed Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi and said that if such incidents happen in Bengal and Rajasthan, they are never spotted protesting as their party works not for justice but for their own political interests.
