Rajganj, 16th February: A tragic incident unfolded where a dumper driver lost his life in a collision between a private bus and a dumper truck on the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri 31D National Highway at Karatoya area of Rajganj. Reportedly, the deceased driver was a resident of Gajoldoba. However, his identity is yet to be ascertained.
According to information gathered, on Friday, a passenger-laden bus was heading towards Falakata from Siliguri when a dumper travelling in the same direction accidentally collided in the Karatoya area. Consequently, the cabin of the dumper slanted forward breaking the windshield while the driver was tossed out of the vehicle leaving him severely injured.
Upon receiving the news, the cops of Rajganj police station and Traffic police arrived at the spot, rescued the driver, and took him to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) where the medical professionals declared him dead upon arrival. Meanwhile, it was reported that a few passengers on the bus sustained minor injuries as a result. Currently, the police are engaged in further investigation.
