Kalchini, 06th February: One died in a wild elephant attack in the Mendabari area of Kalchini block. According to local sources, a person named Vinod Kharia (40) was attacked by a wild elephant while he was returning home from the market on Mendabari Lakra Road on Sunday night. Vinod died on the spot.
After getting the information, forest personnel and Kalchini police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to Alipurduar District Hospital for postmortem. Police are probing the entire incident.
