Siliguri, 11th July: In a first of its kind, a one-day football tournament will be organized between Siliguri Bar Association and Dhaka Lawyers Club on July 14 at the Kanchenjunga Stadium in Siliguri. The tournament is primarily aimed at strengthening the relations between India and Bangladesh.
According to reports, the Siliguri Bar Association has organized the one-day friendly football tournament after agreeing to and acting upon a proposal received from the Dhaka Lawyers Club of Bangladesh. As per sources, along with the presence of Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Darjeeling MP Raju Bista, Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Priyanka Singh, Siliguri Police Commissioner Akhilesh Kumar Chaturvedi, Bangladesh Supreme Court Judge would be present as chief guests on the occasion.
In this regard, Alok Dhara, Secretary Siliguri Bar Association stated that for the first time, a one-day football tournament is being organized between Siliguri Bar Association and Dhaka Lawyers Club. He added that the preparations have been completed. Furthermore, the Secretary expressed a belief that the said tournament would further strengthen the bond between the two nations.
