Kharibari, 22nd March: The Kharibari police foiled an attempt to smuggle buffaloes from Bihar to Assam and arrested a smuggler along with a lorry loaded with buffaloes. The accused has been identified as Suresh Singh, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
As per reports, the police intercepted a suspicious lorry during a search operation in the Chakkarmari area of Kharibari. Upon inspection, 16 buffaloes were recovered from the vehicle. The lorry driver was taken into custody for failing to provide valid documents.
On Saturday, the accused was produced before the Siliguri court. Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the incident.
