Siliguri, 02nd May: The Bhakti Nagar police have successfully solved the theft case at the ISKCON temple in Siliguri within 24 hours, arresting the accused and recovering the stolen cash.
According to reports, the incident occurred on the night of April 29, when thieves broke open three donation boxes inside the ISKCON temple and fled with a large sum of money. The entire act was captured on CCTV, causing a stir when it came to light on April 30.
Following a complaint, undercover officers from Bhakti Nagar Police Station launched an investigation and, with the help of confidential sources, identified and apprehended the accused, identified as Samrat Das, from the Bhakti Nagar area on Thursday night. Police recovered Rs 56,640 in cash from his possession.
The accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Friday. Further investigation into the case is underway.
