One arrested in connection with Siliguri’s Ward No. 37 theft case, stolen items recovered

Siliguri, 17th February: Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a theft in the Ghoghomali-Aurobindo Pally area of Ward No. 37 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation.


According to police sources, on 15th February, a resident of Bagdogra had rented an accomodation in the Aurobindo Pally area after arriving for attending a wedding. After the event, the resident fell asleep at night, and due to a window left improperly closed, a miscreant stole gold jewellery and a mobile phone.

Following a complaint filed at the Ashighar Outpost, an investigation was launched. Police were able to recover the stolen jewellery and mobile. The accused, identified as Ajay Mahanta, a resident of the Ghoghomali area, has been arrested and the recovered items seized.


The arrested individual was sent to Jalpaiguri court on Tuesday.
