Siliguri, 12th February: Matigara police have arrested Noor Islam, a resident of NJP area, on charges of theft at a residence. The stolen goods have also been recovered.
According to sources, the theft occurred on January 25 in the Shiv Mandir area under Matigara police station. The thief stole several valuable items, including a television and brass utensils, by taking advantage of the house being empty. The house owner discovered the theft upon returning home and lodged a written complaint at Matigara police station.
Following the complaint, police launched an investigation and arrested the accused from Vishwas Colony on Tuesday night. Upon interrogation, the police recovered all the stolen items.
The accused was produced in Siliguri court on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Matigara police have started a search operation to trace other possible accomplices of the accused.
