Naxalbari, 29th August: Tension gripped Naxalbari over the alleged rape of a minor girl. However, the accused involved in the crime was arrested by Naxalbari Police.
As per reports, on Monday evening, the minor was returning home after visiting a friend’s place. During this, the accused took advantage of the situation by noticing the minor alone and committed the heinous crime. After being alerted about the incident, the locals caught the accused and handed him over to Naxalbari Police. On Tuesday, the family of the victim gheraoed Naxalbari Police Station and staged a protest demanding stringent punishment for the accused.
Upon receiving the news of the incident, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) leaders arrived at the Naxalbari Police Station. Meanwhile, Arun Ghosh the Sabhadhipati of Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad also reached the police station. In this regard, the Sabhadhipati demanded severe punishment of the accused involved in the incident. Today, the accused was produced before the Siliguri Divisional Court.
