Siliguri, 09th October: A salesman of a bike showroom has been arrested on charges of duping lakhs of rupees on the pretext of providing a bike dealership license in Siliguri. The salesman, identified as Soumyadeep Biswas, is a resident of an area near Burdwan Road.
According to reports, Tanojit Saha, son of a Siliguri-based drug dealer was in plans to acquire a bike dealership, for which, he spoke to Soumyadeep Biswas, a salesman working in a bike showroom. During this, Soumyadeep assured Tanojit of providing him the same in Siliguri. However, he mentioned that he would have to spend a hefty amount of money.
Following this, in a span of six months, Tanojit Saha gave a total of Rs 35 lakh to Soumyadeep Biswas to get the license of the dealership. However, even after paying a huge amount, there was no progress in the work for the license. This made Tanojit suspicious and he investigated the matter at the company in which he was promised to provide a dealership. There, he discovered that, currently, the company is not providing any dealership in Siliguri. Subsequently, Tanojit asked Soumyadeep to return the money, to which the accused made several excuses.
Later, Tanojit Saha filed a written complaint at the Siliguri police station. Based on the complaint, police initiated an investigation and arrested accused Soumyadeep Biswas and produced him before the Siliguri court on Sunday. Meanwhile, the court ordered 5-day police remand for the accused. At present, the police are engaged in a detailed investigation of the entire matter.
