Siliguri, 20th June: A man was arrested for attempting to rape his neighbour. The sickening incident surfaced from Srinagar Colony under NJP Police Station. The accused has been identified as Chandan Mahato.
As per the allegation, two days ago, Mahato lured the teenage girl to his house and tried to molest her. On hearing the girl’s scream, the locals rushed to her rescue while the accused managed to escape from the scene.
Following this, the family of the victim lodged a complaint in the police station regarding the incident. Based on which, the NJP police launched an investigation and arrested Mahato, on Friday night. The police will take legal actions after examining the girl’s health. Mahato was produced in the Jalpaiguri court today.
