Kharibari, 10th September: A complaint has been lodged alleging that a doctor on duty in the emergency department at Kharibari Rural Hospital was threatened.
As per reports, the incident occurred on Monday night when a young man, initially treated at the hospital, returned with a group of 15 individuals to threaten the doctor after feeling unwell again. The group confronted the doctor and issued threats, but they fled upon the arrival of the police.
After the incident, the doctor filed a complaint with Kharibari police station on Tuesday, leading to the arrest of one individual, identified as Bappa Debnath, a resident of Kharibari. Debnath was taken to the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court today, while the police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
Following the threat, the doctor expressed concerns about safety. In a phone call, Kharibari BMOH Dr. Safiul Alam Mallick mentioned that the incident has instilled fear. He emphasized the need for increased police patrolling to prevent such occurrences in the future.
