Rajganj, 09th September: The officials of the Sikkim Agriculture Department inspected the Fulbari land port aiming to export food products to Bangladesh.
On Thursday, officials from the Department of Agriculture and Marketing, including the Additional Director, Nodal Officer, visited the site.
Jagdish Prakash Pradhan, nodal officer of Sikkim’s Agriculture Department, said that Sikkim is keen to export some products from Sikkim including organically grown oranges, large cardamom and ginger to Bangladesh. These food products are in great demand in Bangladesh. Hence, the team reached Fulbari to inspect the export system and infrastructure of the land port in Fulbari.
The nodal officer further said that inspection was carried out to know the procedure required to follow for exporting food items through the Fulbari border. He said that after the inspection, he will inform the farmers and exporters of Sikkim in this regard.
