Siliguri, 21st September: In a recent incident, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Siliguri Police Commissionerate has been arrested on charges of rape.
The accused, Amar Bir, who was posted in the Bagdogra Traffic Guard, was taken into custody by officers from Matigara Police Station after a thorough investigation.
Reportedly, the case originated from a complaint filed by a woman in July, alleging that Amar Bir had threatened and sexually assaulted her. Following the complaint, he applied for bail, but his application was denied by the court.
On Friday, police arrested the ASI from the Mallaguri area. He was presented in court on Saturday for legal proceedings. The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
