Siliguri, 19th April: The police officers of Panitanki Out Post arrested a notorious thief of Bidhan Market, who was constantly on the lookout for new opportunities to steal in the area. The arrested individual has been identified as Papan Das.
According to reports, yesterday, Papan Das found an opportunity to steal from a shop in the aforementioned market. Subsequently, the owner filed a written complaint at the Panitanki Outpost. The complaint mentioned that the incident occurred around noon and goods worth Rs 4 lakhs were stolen.
Based on the complaint, the police probed the case and found CCTV footage which helped them to identify the accused within a few hours of filing the complaint. Papan Das was successfully apprehended on charges of theft. Today, the accused was produced before the Siliguri Court, where the police requested remand to recover all the stolen goods. The entire matter is currently under investigation by the police at the Panitanki Out Post.
