Sittong, 05th July: Darjeeling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Raju Bista visited the Bara Sittong area located in Lower Sittong where the residents had adopted the stance of “No Road, No Vote”.
Speaking in this regard, MP Raju Bista stated that despite being represented by Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) Chairman Anit Thapa, the constituency continues to suffer from inadequate development. Bista criticized the leaders of the BGPM (Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh Morcha) for making empty promises of developing the Darjeeling and Kalimpong hills while lacking the competence to carry out actual development work. He accused them of prioritizing personal gains, taking a 7% cut from all projects, and constructing substandard roads that can be dug by hand. He also highlighted instances of improper installation of ‘Har Ghar Jal’ pipes, with plastic pipes being used and attached to trees.
In response to these challenges, Bista assured the people that if they exercise their democratic right and vote for competent candidates, the road in Lower Sittong will be properly constructed once the Panchayat is formed. He urged voters across the region to choose clean and honest candidates with a clear vision for development, emphasizing that failing to do so could lead to even worse conditions in every village.
