Rajganj, 25th March: Anger has erupted among residents over deplorable road conditions, with locals raising the slogan “No road, no vote” and warning of a poll boycott. The incident has been reported from Dangapara area near Bandhunagar under Majhiali Gram Panchayat in Rajganj block.
Residents allege that the road in the area has remained in a dilapidated condition for several years. Despite repeated complaints to the panchayat head and local representatives, no permanent solution has been implemented. Locals claim that assurances were given multiple times, but no work has begun on the ground.
According to residents, the poor condition of the road is causing daily hardships. The situation worsens during the monsoon, when mud and water make movement nearly impossible. School-going children and essential services are among the worst affected.
Residents further alleged that promises to construct the road are made ahead of every election but never fulfilled. They also claimed that the road was supposed to be built under the “Amader Para, Amader Samadhan” scheme, but no progress has been made so far. Frustrated over inaction, residents have now warned of boycotting the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, Majhiali Gram Panchayat Pradhan Sumit Dutta stated that efforts were made to initiate the road work, but it could not begin due to lack of funds. He also cited the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct as a reason for the delay. Assuring action, he said that work will start once funds are available after the elections, and added that discussions will be held with residents to resolve the issue.
