Siliguri, 18th March: A fish trader in Siliguri’s Regulated Market stated that consuming fish does not spread the coronavirus. However, no customers are being sighted in the market.
Amidst the coronavirus scare, people have stopped eating fish as they fear of risking their lives. The trader stated that the sale of fishes has decreased by 30-40 percent in the past few days.
The trader further stated that the people are terrorized due to the coronavirus scare. They have stopped consuming fish and meat as well. Despite the fall in prices of the fish, other states have also stopped importing fishes.
Partha Banerjee, a trader, stated that even though fishes are available in large quantities, the fish exports have reduced significantly. He urged the people that they can consume fish without hesitation.
