Siliguri, 12th December: NJP police, based on a tip-off, conducted a campaign, in plain attire, in the enclosed area of Fulbari market. The team successfully seized a truck loaded with illegal coal. The truck driver, identified as Uttar Pradesh resident Zakir Alam, has been arrested in this incident.
During the campaign on Friday night, the police recovered 25 tonnes of coal illegally being transported from Assam to Bihar. The estimated market for recovered coal is Rs 12 lakh. According to police sources, the accused was produced in the Jalpaiguri court on Saturday.
It is to be noted, on Thursday too, the police recovered 37 tonnes of coal by conducting operations in Fulbari.
