Siliguri, 17th June: Acting on a tip-off, the NJP police successfully rescued 75 buffaloes intended for smuggling. Additionally, a person has been apprehended in connection with the incident.
Reportedly, the police conducted an operation in Fulbari, where they seized a container with a Nagaland license plate. Subsequently, a search of the container led to the discovery of 75 buffaloes. The driver of the container, identified as Sakir Alam and a resident of Daulatpur in Bihar, was arrested.
Authorities have been monitoring a cattle-buffalo smuggling gang operating in the Fulbari corridor for an extended period. According to police sources, the buffaloes were being transported from Bihar to Assam.
