Siliguri, 17th June: The NJP police, acting on a tip-off, recovered a large quantity of cannabis, on Wednesday. Three people, identified as Chandan Roy, Shambhu Das, and Swapan Roy, were arrested in the incident. They are residents of Jalpaiguri.
According to sources, the smugglers were transporting a large quantity of cannabis from Cooch Behar to Bihar via Fulbari. A police team, under the leadership of OC of NJP Police Station Samir Tamang, SI Gautam Mallick, and ASI Khagen Barman launched operations at Fulbari Bazar on Wednesday afternoon. Two Wagon R cars loaded with cannabis were detained. After searching, 120 kgs of cannabis was recovered with an estimated market value of 15 lakh rupees.
The arrested individuals were produced at the Jalpaiguri court on Thursday.
