Siliguri, 09th August: NJP Police arrested a man with segun wood worth lakhs of rupees. Reportedly, on Sunday evening, the police acting on a tip-off detained a truck from Jatiakali near Fulbari. The truck was searched and 560 CFT Segun wood was recovered. The driver of the vehicle Raheel Khan (30) was arrested in the incident.
According to police sources, the market value of the recovered timber is around Rs 40 lakh rupees. The timber was being transported from Assam to Kolkata. It has been learned that this gang has been running this business for a long time by smudging ink on the vehicle number. The police have started investigating whether anyone else is involved in the incident. The arrested accused was sent to Jalpaiguri court on Monday.
