Siliguri, 24th December: Based on a tip-off, the NJP police, on Wednesday afternoon, launched operations at Fulbari and arrested a man along with a large quantity of illegal betel nuts. The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammad Yakat Khan.
Reportedly, the NJP police detained a truck and recovered around 18 tonnes of betel nuts worth 47 lakh rupees. Police arrested the truck driver Mohammad Yakat Khan in the incident.
According to police sources, the betel nuts were being transported from Assam to Benaras. The arrested driver was sent to Jalpaiguri court today.
