Siliguri, 03rd July: The undercover police of NJP police station arrested a person, identified as Ranjit Paul, a resident of Michael Madhusudan Colony, with a huge quantity of cannabis. The man was apparently standing in front of the NJP Railway Hospital with a bag full of the drug on Friday.
On receiving a tip, the police launched a campaign and arrested Paul and recovered about 26 kg of cannabis from his possession. The market price of the seized item is estimated to be around 2 lakh 60 thousand rupees.
As per the police, the accused person was involved in this business for a long time. He used to bring the cannabis from Jalpaiguri and sell it in Siliguri. He was produced in the Jalpaiguri court today.
