Siliguri, 24th December: NJP police arrested a man with a substantial amount of cannabis. The arrested accused has been identified as Chandan Roy, a resident of Sahebganj in Cooch Behar district.
It has been learned that on Thursday night, based on a tip-off, the police led by OC of NJP Police Station Samir Tamang raided the Amaidighi check post in Fulbari and seized a container. Upon searching, 180 kgs of cannabis were recovered from the secret chamber of the vehicle. The driver was arrested in the incident.
According to police sources, the market value of the recovered cannabis is around 26 lakh rupees. The cannabis was being transported from Dinhata to Barasat. Police have started an investigation into the whole incident.
