Siliguri, 20th July: The NJP police arrested a man for allegedly trying to rape a three-and-a-half-year-old girl. The arrested accused has been identified as Ramesh Barman. The incident took place at Ambikanagar Guard Para on Monday evening.
The victim’s mother said that her daughter went missing in the evening and so she went to her neighbours’ house to look for the child. She suddenly heard her daughter’s cries coming out from Ramesh Barman’s house. She rushed to his house and caught Ramesh forcing himself on the child.
After receiving the news of the incident, the police reached the spot and arrested the accused. On the other hand, the child was sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for medical help.
