NJP Dry port case: Prasenjit Roy arrested in Assam

Siliguri, 23rd February: On February 04, a massive vandalism occurred at the land port which is situated a few kilometers away from Uttarkanya. TMC leader Prasenjit Roy and his associates were involved in the incident.


The industrialists highly condemned the incident. Following this, Roy was immediately dismissed from the party. Since then, the entire Siliguri police commissionerate, including the NJP police, was searching for him. Although the police managed to arrest Roy’s closest associates, Roy was still at large.

At last, the police got hold of Roy in Assam. He will be brought to Siliguri on Tuesday afternoon.


It is to be noted that the INTTUC workers, on February 04, staged a protest in front of the land port gate demanding recruitment of local workers. The protest took a violent turn and the dry port offices, the Customs, vehicles, equipment worth crores were destroyed.
