New Delhi, 31st January: The Patiala House Court has once again stayed the execution of the Nirbhaya rapists until further orders. The mercy petition filed by convict Vinay Sharma grasped today’s stay.
On Thursday, a petition was filed on behalf of Vinay before the President, in which he pleaded for his life. As per the rules, even if the President rejects the plea today, the convict has to be given 14 days till execution.
Disappointed by the order, Asha Devi, mother of the 2012 Delhi gang-rape victim stated that she was “challenged” by AP Singh, the lawyer of the convicts. “AP Singh has challenged me saying that the convicts will never be executed. I will continue my fight. The government will have to execute the convicts,” she said.
