New Delhi, 12th February: The parents of 2012 gang-rape victim mother and women rights activist Yogita Bhayana stage demonstration outside Patiala House Court demanding the culprits be hanged at the earliest.
The Patiala House Court was hearing on the plea of a fresh death warrant against the four convicts, sought by the State and Nirbhaya’s parents. The court offered Pawan Gupta, one of the four convicts, legal aid after he said that he did not have a lawyer.
Nirbhaya’s mother broke down in court during the hearing and said that she has been wandering for seven years to get justice for her daughter and is not losing faith and hope. She requested the court to understand the delay tactics of the convicts.
“Now if a new lawyer is provided to convict Pawan he/she will take his/her own time to go through case files,” Asha Devi further added.
The Delhi Court adjourned the hearing for tomorrow and asked to provide a list of advocates to convict Pawan and the Jail Superintendent.
Gravely disappointed, the mother of the 2012 Delhi gang-rape victim said, “the judge does not want to fix a date for hanging the convicts and is supporting them. I appeal to the Supreme Court to issue the death warrant as the Patiala House Court is in no mood to issue a fresh death warrant.”
