Siliguri, 27th November: Similar to Jaldapara and Gorumara, a new safari has been launched at Mahananda Sanctuary in Sukna near Siliguri. As of now, the forest department has made arrangements to allow visitors enjoy a one-hour safari to watch the beauty of wildlife, forests, and mountains. The newly set up safari has been inaugurated on Friday. State’s Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Binod Kumar Yadav, North Bengal’s Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Rajendra Jakhar, Padmaja Naidu, Zoo Director Dharamdeo Rai, and other forest officials were present during the programme.
Tickets for the safari can be purchased at the Sukna Forest Office or through the online procedure (wbsfda.org). Tickets are currently priced at Rs 300 per head. A bus has also been arranged for the safari. Although the bus can accommodate 28 people, 20 people can go for the safari at a time as a safety measure. The safari will commence from 6 am and continue till 8:45 am and also from 3 pm to 4:30 pm.
The one-hour safari will include a view of the jungle from the Watch Tower as well as deer, bison, various birds, and leopards. Several birds and junglefowl were released into the forest from the front of the Manodia Watch Tower today.
