Jalpaiguri, 08th February: After almost a year, New Jalpaiguri-Haldibari local train resumed its service from today. However, the fare hike sparked outrage among the passengers.
As per the report, the passengers have to fill up a form at the reservation counter and buy the train ticket at double the original fare. Passengers expressed displeasure over the price hike. Local passengers protested in front of the main gate of Jalpaiguri Town Station, demanding change of this rule.
Passengers said that initially the ticket was priced at Rs 10 and now it has been increased to Rs 25. In addition to this, they have to fill up the form at the reservation counter for the ticket. They complained of facing a lot of inconvenience due to the new rules.
