New Arrivals at Darjeeling Zoo: Two White Tigers and two Golden Jackals

Darjeeling, 30th November: Two white tigers and two golden jackals have arrived at the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park in Darjeeling, adding excitement to the winter season. Their arrival is expected to attract increased attention from tourists during the busy tourist season.

The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park is one of the major tourist attractions in Darjeeling, drawing visitors from across the world every year. The Topkeydara Breeding Center under the zoo has gained recognition for successfully breeding wild animals, including snow leopards, Himalayan wolves, and red pandas.

In July, four red pandas and a pair of snow leopards were born at the zoo. The cubs were recently named by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The addition of the new animals further enhances the zoo’s appeal. Reportedly, the animals were transported by road from Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad and are reported to be in good health, according to the zoo authorities.

Saurabh Choudhary, member secretary of the State Zoo Authority, confirmed that a pair of white tigers and a golden jackal have arrived in Darjeeling. In exchange, a pair of Royal Bengal tigers, along with other species such as Golden Pheasants, Silver Pheasants, Lady Amherst Pheasants, and Cheer pheasants, have been sent to the Hyderabad zoo.

The director of the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park mentioned that the new arrivals will soon be introduced to the public after they adjust to their new environment.
