NBU students stage ‘silent protest’ against sexual harassment on campus

Siliguri, 11th October: An unsettling incident unfolded at the North Bengal University as the head of the botany department has been accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a student.


According to reports, on Wednesday, the students of the institution staged a silent protest throughout the campus. The students alleged that the head of the botany department had been sexually harassing a student for a significant period of time. Additionally, the student was prompted into inappropriate activities. Subsequently, the victim reported the incident to the university authorities and the education minister.

Following this, the students gathered and staged a protest in front of the administrative structure. The enraged students spoke with the registrar concerning their demands for severe punishment for the accused.
