Siliguri, 05th August: The students of the law department of the North Bengal University (NBU) gathered in protests over the university operating since 2011 without the affiliation with the Bar Council of India. Students of the law department demanded the immediate instigation of affiliation.
The issue came to light when a student faced difficulties while seeking admission to the Bihar Bar Council. In response, the student filed a case against the university at the Jalpaiguri Circuit Bench for running the department without the necessary approval. Consequently, the students of the law department accused the university of jeopardizing their futures. They further alleged that students from financially weaker backgrounds across North Bengal study in the university, yet the university continues to operate without the required affiliation.
On Monday, students surrounded the administrative building, calling for immediate action from the university’s registrar. Dr. Debashish Dutta, the Acting Registrar, acknowledged the situation, stating that the matter is currently under judicial review. He assured that efforts are underway to obtain the required approval from the Bar Council of India.
North Bengal University law student should be very strong for future and carriers of law student for future because they are the spinal cord of law and nation.and they dedicated 7 to 8 years for advocate diploma.
Is it done on purpose? Why state run institutions should act in this manner? Every one responsible must face disciplinary actions .
