Naxalbari house fire: Arun Ghosh visits site, announces compensation

Naxalbari, 07th February: Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh on Saturday visited the site of a devastating fire incident in Naxalbari that reportedly broke out due to a short circuit. He was accompanied by Naxalbari Panchayat Samiti Karmadhyaksha Biraj Sarkar and Maniram Gram Panchayat Pradhan Gautam Ghosh.

The incident occurred on Friday evening when a fire broke out at a residential house, creating panic in the locality. In the blaze, two rooms of a family’s house along with furniture and important documents were completely gutted, while another room was partially damaged.

During the inspection, Arun Ghosh announced financial assistance from the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad fund, assuring Rs 35,000 for the severely affected family and Rs 25,000 for the less affected family. He also assured that arrangements would be made to restore electricity and water supply in the area.

Although a fire engine reached the spot, it could not enter the congested locality due to narrow lanes. Keeping future safety in mind, the Sabhadhipati said discussions would be held with all concerned to find a long-term solution. Meanwhile, the block administration has also extended assistance to the affected families.
